Region 10 EPA Head Visits Research Facility

Interim Regional Administrator for Region 10 EPA, Ron Kreizenbeck, visited the Hayden Wastewater Research Facility in June. Accompanying him was Tom Eaton, EPA Director, WA Operations Office of the EPA. Don Martin and Ed Marine from the Coeur d’Alene, ID EPA office also attended. The EPA group was treated to a data dump on advanced phosphorus removal. They were also given a sneak preview of a next generation product utilizing a synergistic advanced oxidation process that destroys endocrine disruptors and pharmaceuticals. The company intends to pilot this process in 3Q 06.

HACH Instrument Trailer In Use

Blue Water Technologies is currently using a HACH demonstration trailer to monitor various Hayden wastewater parameters as the company has idled their phosphorus removal operation for 6 weeks. The objective is to allow the Hayden plant effluent to return to pre-Blue Water conditions. Then, several baseline measurements will be taken including bio-solids quantity and moisture content.

Supreme Court Ruling on the Clean Water Act

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court on Monday said new limits could be set regarding the federal government's power to enforce the 34-year-old Clean Water Act, but a set of opinions handed down by the justices did little to define what those limits might be. Wetlands limits can be revised, court says.

Steady State Study Available Soon

Blue Water recently concluded an extensive 210-day testing protocol for phosphorus removal at the full-scale Hayden Wastewater Research Facility. During the final 90 days the protocol was conducted at steady-state condition for the Blue PRO™ process. Conclusions from the study include verification that the Blue PRO™ process can achieve total phosphorus concentrations less than 0.010 mg/L. A steady-state report will be made available to industrial dischargers, municipalities, regulators, and engineering firms upon request beginning in June 2006.

Filtering… Build it and they will come. At this writing Blue Water is expecting to show tours of the Hayden Wastewater Research Facility to over 500 engineers, operators, regulators, green groups, visiting academics, students, and citizens by the end of 2006.
