Contract Operator - Nationwide
The contract operator performs pilot projects for potential customers and engineering groups as well as performs various activities to facilitate the installation and start up of Blue Water Technologies, Inc. (BWT) water treatment products. The activities will be performed in the field including extended overnight travel. Please do not apply if you cannot travel in the U.S. and Canada for extended periods up to three weeks. Some of the duties included in this position are outlined below:
Primary Responsibilities
  • Operates mobile pilot unit for BWT research, product development, and pilot projects for customers.
  • Represents the company and interfaces with customers as needed at pilot project sites.
  • Collects samples, performs field analytical tests, and check test results, taking appropriate action as needed regarding operation of the pilot unit.
  • Records data from meters, gauges, control panels in field laboratory books; logs process control changes in field laboratory book.
  • Implements quality assurance project plans for pilot projects as written and developed by the engineering department.
  • Performs minor maintenance and preventive maintenance; assists in major maintenance and repair activities.
  • Starts and stops pumps, compressed air, generators, and chemical addition to control and adjust flow and treatment processes.
  • Handles chemical reagents in a safe and effective manner; assures proper working order of reagent related equipment.
  • Installs and tests various designs for equipment related to processes being tested with the pilot units.
  • Maintains work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
  • Follows BWT safety regulations at all times.
  • Must display a high level of professionalism and customer service.
  • May travel to locations throughout the U.S. and Canada for pilot projects.
Desired Skills
  • Wastewater operating experience and license.
  • Sampling, performing analytical tests, and experience in a lab setting.
  • Seeking individuals located in the Southeast, Texas, or Northeast.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Completion of high school.
  • Any experience which would provide the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
    • Ability to use and maintain bench and hand tools and test equipment associated with wastewater treatment.
    • Read meters and gauges to interpret findings.
    • Take water samples and conduct routine field tests.
  • Must be able to handle and operate or have the aptitude to learn to operate forklifts, hand tools, electric drills, air drills, hand wrenches and other tools as needed, and test equipment associated with wastewater treatment; must be able to use hand shovel and tractors to remove snow or other material from sidewalks.
  • Ability to carry buckets of material, small and large heavy tools and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, up and down stairways.
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver portable pumps weighing from 10 to 200 pounds; lift/drag/maneuver sections of 3/4" - 2-1/2" fire hose measuring 50 to 200 feet long and handle same under 60 psi of pressure.
  • Ability to operate/turn small (4 inch) to large (72 inch) valves.
  • Ability to lift, pull, roll, twist, and maneuver (with assistance as needed) a variety of equipment and materials weighing 250 pounds or more, such as 55-gallon reagent drums.
  • Requires agility and dexterity to bend, lean, and twist parts of the body for extensive periods of time while sitting, standing, or walking; and ability to walk from 1 to 5 miles per day, ascending and descending stairways, while checking and operating pilot or plant equipment.
  • Physical ability to work in all types of weather conditions, including outdoor summer temperatures of over 100°F and winter temperatures as low as
    -20°F; and ability to work in confined spaces while performing a variety of duties such as pumping, cleaning, repairing equipment, and adjusting valves and slide gates.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and the general public.
  • Excellent work history and attendance record required. Possession of a valid driver's license is required at the time of hire.
  • Applicant must also have an excellent driving record and be able to be insured by the company insurance policy as a driver of company vehicles.
  • Applicant may be required to pass CPR and First Aid and be willing to obtain certain immunizations as requested by the company.
Other Essential Skills
  • Applicant must be proficient with Microsoft Office including Excel, Outlook, and the internet.
