Introduction
AztecThe Aztec, New Mexico wastewater treatment plant needed denitrification filters that could also meet a future phosphorus limit of 0.5 mg/L total phosphorus. Blue Water’s Blue NITE™ system was selected for its ability to run the Blue PRO® phosphorus removal process in the future. When phosphorus removal is needed, the only change to the system will be iron chemical addition – no other physical or operational changes will be needed.
System Design
The Aztec installation consists of two CF-200 filters for a single pass Blue NITE™ system at the lower denitrification hydraulic loading rate. Methanol is dosed as the carbon source for the denitrification process.
